Whew here we go again!

Yep, it's a comic strip now, no complaining! :D
Decided to make it into a strip so I can update three times a week, and well, it's great cause it makes me "get to the point", since I've always felt the "old" Cat Nine's pacing was so frigging slow, and since it updates once a week... :|

New site's not up yet so I'll just keep uploading them here.

Oh, why I stopped updating? Well..
1. No idea where the story is going. I don't even know what it's exact genre. Yes, writing is fun, but it's also overwhelming cause I'm still a beginner. I mean, you can pretty much do ANYTHING in the story if you want to, but there's so many different paths in the story you can take. I could've made Cat Nine a romance, action, maybe even an harem(which I hate btw). I don't even know if I'll still like the way the story is going after a while, or if the readers will.
2. Flash CS5 is reaaaally slow, like, undo takes at least 10 secs. Plus it hates me,  I know it. Keeps ruining my art for some reason. I even need to redraw some of them, argh!
3. Drawing it is taking too long. I don't remember how I spent 8+ hours per page... part of it is probably #2 though. Or maybe most of it.
4. School of course. Especially when it's midterms or finals.
5. Self-esteem. I know all artists see a problem in everything they make, that's how to improve, but being too critical is, well, depressing. NO I was not depressed, but more like "Ugh, what's  the point, I'll never be THAT good."  Also not helping is me being lazy about practice, so I moan about the above, it's an endless cycle of stupid really. Well I got over it, even if it's just for now, heh. I think I need a reminder(i.e. a kick in the balls), if I'm ever like this again.

I totally respect your reasons for doing Take Two, except for the last >w> Old Cat Nine was every bit as amazing, but in its own special way :D

would you consider paint tool sai? Some of the smoothing tools would probably help a fair bit, It's really a much better program for linework than photoshop (seriously, I tried to learn to do linework well in photoshop for years before finding it), plus the paint bucket actually fills in linework. It's also pretty lightweight (resource wise), there's a free 30 day trial online if you need to check it out. Other than that I could point you towards some pretty good tutorials and examples, especially webcomics in a comparable style (kiwi blitz, the 10k commotion, between two worlds ([link]), anything recent by endling on deviantart and a couple others). Otherwise useful tutorials,

and others are all over the place. Trick is to get inspired rather than encouraged, whenever I can't find anybody to learn from I'm put out because I need to figure out how to blaze my own trail (and wasn't inspired enough not to want to learn in the first place), takes a hell of a lot longer. You just gotta take the stars in the sky for targets and remember that you are the fucking rocket. Good luck bro.

Thanks for the comment!

Anyway, I actually use Adobe Flash CS4 for pretty much everything. I might try that Paint Tool Sai later if it's better than Photoshop. Yeah same here with doing lineart in Photoshop, ugh. I have some DVDs on how to use Photoshop for doing comics as well as some bookmarks on the Internet, but darn it, I really just love using Flash. Sooo I'm kinda lazy about making artworks or practicing in Photoshop.

BUT I might check out the tutorials later on though I'm concentrating on learning other stuff(i.e. figure drawing) for now.

Oh and thanks for the concern too, but I'm feeling pretty great recently and in no danger of feeling uninspired or losing confidence, for a while anyway haha.

sai's pretty awesome... but the biggest thing I've heard for improvements in webcomickry is just doing the thing itself, (parallel dementia is an amazing example)the regular art combined with any will to improve seems to have fairly dramatic results on a regular basis. Also some the bigger webcomics either started off without a plot or just never felt the need for one,el goonish shive and sluggy freelance both took awhile getting their feet under them and establishing characters/having fun, penny arcade has a mild binding narrative but basically does whatever the hell they want (although you do seem to be aiming for a bit more character based humor and manga-esqe setting), and a couple like emergency exit actually got worse after they started taking themselves to seriously (not right away... that took awhile, I especially enjoyed the crossover's with it's sister comics). I do wish you luck, figure you might have an easier time of it if you don't take it too seriously tho'

I was more optimistic when I started, but also a lot more inexperienced. I DO know that I'm gonna get better overtime, which can be seen on a lot of webcomics, but I guess I was too hard on myself.

Yeah you noticed that I'm going in a certain direction, specifically I'm aiming to make it episode based (i.e. different plot every episode). Making the old Cat Nine was quite a good experience for me even though I can't look at it without disgust on my face hah.

I'm more focused in Take Two now though, and I've already made up my mind that it *is* comedy, so hopefully no problems in it getting sidetracked with it getting too serious.

cool, feel free to hit me up if you're looking for some resources or really just cool webcomics (i read far more than I really should). Also, that link in the first post from mikenel is head and shoulders above a lot of the stuff out there for artists. He does solid (if not always shall we say worksafe) stuff, and it has a step by step guide to his method of coloring a piece using some of photoshop's more esoteric tools. It's an impressive handle on some of the higher level techniques you'll see on a lot of the really good guys, and even just taking a couple chunks from it let me do some really cool stuff. Seriously tho' I'd check out sai's lineart layers and maybe photoshop's vector art tools (if you don't have illustrator). You really seem to be headed in a direction that would benefit more from machined lines and color than the more organic feel of freehand. best of luck to you.

RIP much-loved original.

Hello....ummm....Take Two? Well, you definitely sped through the character introductions on that one. Good to know that the project isn't dead, though.

To be honest it did sort of have a strong harem feeling going since around the time Tammy appeared.

Though It would be kinda odd for him to hook up with his cat O.o even if she is human in the comic.

When there's only three people involved, I think it's more of a love triangle than a harem.

Well, there was an earlier version of Cat Nine than the one I did before, and in that Myan was a possible love interest... I changed cause yeah, she's a cat girl but she's still a cat.
